Data Science to Agentic AI: A CXO's Guide to Strategic Decision-Making

As organisations move from Data Science and Machine Learning to Generative AI and Agentic AI, CXOs face a critical challenge: identifying the right business problems, selecting high-value AI use cases, evaluating pilot outcomes, and scaling successful solutions into production.

This session gives business and technology leaders a practical framework for navigating the AI landscape, making informed technology and investment decisions, and turning AI opportunities into measurable business outcomes.

What the session covers

  • Identifying the right business problems: where AI can address meaningful business challenges and create measurable value.
  • Selecting and prioritising AI use cases: when to use Data Science, Machine Learning, Generative AI or Agentic AI, based on business needs, feasibility and risk.
  • Designing and evaluating AI pilots: defining success metrics, establishing baselines, and evaluating technical performance and business impact.
  • Moving from pilot to production: assessing readiness for enterprise deployment, including integration, security, governance, scalability and operational reliability.
  • Scaling AI for business impact: a roadmap to prioritise investments, scale successful solutions, and realise sustained business value.

Key takeaway: a practical decision-making framework for CXOs to move from AI opportunities and pilot projects to reliable, scalable, production-ready enterprise solutions.

From Prototype to Production: Building Enterprise AI with Forward-Deployed Engineers

How do you turn a real business problem into an AI solution that can work in an enterprise? This 90-minute session introduces the Forward-Deployed Engineer (FDE) role and shows how business needs, AI engineering and enterprise integration come together. Through live coding, participants see an AI-powered workflow built, tested against realistic cases, and examined through the lens of production readiness.

What you will take away

  • What a Forward-Deployed Engineer does, and how the role differs from traditional software and AI engineering.
  • How an engineer translates a business problem into a scoped AI solution and architecture.
  • A live-coded enterprise AI workflow that connects an LLM with data, tools and business logic.
  • Why testing, failure handling, security, reliability and evaluation matter beyond a working prototype.
The 90 minutes
  1. The rise of the FDE. What a Forward-Deployed Engineer is, why the role is emerging, and why enterprises need engineers who can connect business problems to working technology.
  2. The FDE mindset. How FDEs discover the real problem, clarify requirements, define constraints, and identify what success should look like.
  3. Designing the solution. A concise walkthrough of the architecture: model, enterprise data, tools or APIs, workflow, and guardrails.
  4. Live coding: build an enterprise AI workflow. A focused business workflow agent, such as a procurement assistant that checks policy and supporting information through a mock enterprise API, then recommends a next step.
  5. Test, find failures, improve. Realistic test cases, including missing information or a policy exception. Examine the output, identify failure modes, and demonstrate an improvement.
  6. From prototype to production. What real deployment needs: access control, privacy, reliability, observability, evaluation, human approval, and integration.
  7. Key takeaways. The FDE mindset and the capabilities required to build useful enterprise AI.

Who should attend: fresh engineering graduates, software developers, AI/ML engineers, data scientists, technology leaders, and enterprise decision-makers, including CIOs, CTOs and Chief Data Officers.

AI CXO Academy FAQ

What is the AI CXO Academy?

The AI CXO Academy is the leadership practice of Aegis AI Executive Education. It gives boards, CEOs, CXOs and business heads the understanding and the working plan to lead AI in their organisation, through an open CXO cohort, private leadership workshops, board briefings and 1:1 coaching.

Who is it for?

CEOs and managing directors, CXOs across finance, operations, HR, sales, marketing and technology, business and function heads, board members and independent directors, promoters of family businesses, and senior government and PSU leaders.

Do I need a technical background?

No. There is no code. The Academy is about decisions: where AI creates value in your business, which use cases to fund, whether to build, buy or partner, how to manage risk, and how to organise people. You do use AI tools yourself during the sessions, on your own work.

Can I enrol on my own, or sponsor my leadership team?

Both. You can reserve a seat for yourself in the open CXO cohort, sponsor seats for colleagues, or bring the Academy in as a private workshop for your leadership team. Tell us which you want and a program director replies within one business day.

Where is the next open session for CXOs?

At Bharat AI Innovation 2026, World Trade Center, Mumbai. Aegis is hosting 'Data Science to Agentic AI: A CXO's Guide to Strategic Decision-Making' by Dr. Vinay Kulkarni, Adjunct Faculty at IIT Bombay and Director of Aegis School of Data Science & AI, and a closed-door CXO roundtable on building the enterprise AI workforce, moderated by Aegis CEO Bhupesh Daheria. Register at bharataiinnovation.com.

What do participants leave with?

A shared, working understanding of what AI can and cannot do; a shortlist of use cases ranked by value, feasibility and risk; a position on governance and data protection; and a 90-day action plan with named owners. In a private workshop these are built for your company with your own leadership team.

Where is it delivered?

Private workshops and briefings are delivered at your boardroom or an offsite venue of your choice, or at the Aegis campus in Mumbai. Coaching sessions and shorter briefings can also be held live online.

What happens after the workshop?

Most leadership teams follow with one of three steps: a training-need diagnosis and use-case discovery for the wider organisation, role-based training with on-the-job projects through Aegis AI Executive Education, or an AI Centre of Excellence to deliver the use-case portfolio.
